The Power of One: Episode 2 - Coastline Sight and Hearing

Earlier this year, we launched our new video series, The Power of One – our way of transforming traditional impact reporting, with simple, creative and engaging storytelling.

Instead of burdening grant recipients with lengthy forms and complex spreadsheets, we’ve flipped the script by taking on the reporting ourselves. We’re excited to share the second episode in our series, highlighting the human side of the impact we’re making.

Episode Two

Episode Two takes a look behind the scenes of a project we’re incredibly proud to have funded for Coastline Sight and Hearing in Scarborough, inspired by the success of blind comedian Chris McCausland winning the 2024 of Strictly Come Dancing.

Coastline, founded in 2022, promotes social inclusion for people with visual or hearing impairments by supporting independent living, offering advice and guidance, and organising recreational activities.

And so, when we received a grant application for funding a number of Strictly-inspired dance classes, we knew straight away we wanted to be involved to help both the physical and mental health of local attendees.

You can see the impact the sessions are making by watching Episode Two here.

Each month, we turn away requests for funding worth hundreds of thousands of pounds - not because the ideas lack potential impact, but because our resources simply don’t stretch far enough. And it’s the hardest part of what we do.

You can change that.

When businesses commit to becoming 1%ers - pledging 1% of profits - they unlock opportunities for life-changing projects to move forward. Every new partner means more grants approved, more lives touched, and more inspiring stories, like those at Coastline, becoming reality.

We’re redefining what it means to be a foundation. With your backing, the scale of what we can achieve grows exponentially.

If you’re passionate about making a difference - whether through your time, expertise, or fresh ideas - our Head of Foundation, Matty Lewis, would love to connect.

Together, let’s prove the incredible impact of The Power of One.
